Thank you to the wonderful Clara Kensie for offering us a copy of DSD in exchange for an honest review!
RUN. It’s all sixteen-year-old Tessa Carson has ever known. Hunted by a telepathic killer, Tessa and her family have fled home after home, hiding behind aliases to survive. Her scars are more than just physical, and as the only one in her family without a psychic ability, she lives a life of secrets, lies, and fear.
After the Carsons flee to a new hideout and take on new identities yet again, Tessa meets confident, carefree Tristan Walker. Their attraction burns fierce, but she runs from him too, knowing their love can never be true when she can’t even tell him her real name.
But Tristan has secrets as well—secrets that will either save Tessa, or destroy her. The only way Tessa can save her family—and uncover the real reason they’ve been hunted all these years—is to forget everything she’s learned from a lifetime of running away, and run straight into danger head-on.
I don’t normally choose paranormal romance- or any kind of paranormal anything for that matter- fantasy is just not my thing! BUT I was really satisfied with DSD! There was the perfect amount of suspense and romance and the plot kept me intrigued. I mean, family on the run- come on! Paranormal love! Secrets and twists and turns! That all caught my interest (and kept it)!
The characters were well-developed and Kensie has this ability to make you like them so much you feel their pain. I fell in love with Tessa and Tristan- they were likeable, relatable, and they just made me happy. Creating good characters- it’s one of her gifts. Kensie’s writing style is unique and deeply engaging. Although this is YA, I didn’t want to put it down. ~Kris
One of my favorite parts of Kensie’s writing are her characters. They’re always so interesting, with unique personalities and character traits, allowing me to create really vivid imaginings of them in my mind. In Deception So Deadly, Clara has once again created these intriguing characters for my (and your) reading pleasure. And this storyline! No dull moments as the Carsons fought to survive. I loved the paranormal/fantastical element of the story. (Doesn’t everyone wish they had a “super” power?)
I had a lot of fun reading this book. I was sucked in from the first action-filled page and it kept me engaged throughout the entire story. I can’t wait for the next installment. ~Amber
